You're going to make a fortune, that's for sure, and you are finally ready to buy your business opportunity package. So what now? Oh yeah, the law. That's right; whenever heading into a business operation - especially those ones that prove to be insanely successful, there are always a few legal considerations that need to be hammered out in order to maker sure that the business venture - and those who help you set it up - are all operating on the up and up. With the business opportunities packages and options available to entrepreneurs today, there is no difference. Despite the uniqueness of this type of transaction (when you buy the business opportunity, that is) from other ventures such as the franchise or the start up, there is one constant that can be pretty much relied upon no matter where you are - and that is lots and lots of paper work. But where you are does make a significant difference when speaking of which kind of paper work you will be handling. That's because there is a wide disparity of regulation between each and every one of the states of the United States that does place extra regulations upon business opportunity transactions. At this point the number of states that actually does this is about just over half of all states in the union. To define exactly what a business opportunity is, let's have it be sufficient to say that it really depends on what state you're in. Typically speaking, however, a business opportunity is a package of, well, just that - an opportunity to start something that generates revenue and profit. It usually has a sales plan, products that can be sold, instructions on how to sell and consultation and training pertaining to how to set it up and get it off of the ground. The legal outline of what a business opportunity tends to generally fall under these basic principles. Although they vary from state to state, the following out line provides a fairly accurate starting point for anyone wishing to get a further grasp on what it means to buy a business opportunity, and what it really means to own one. First of all, it should be noted that a typical business opportunity comes with a legal obligation for the sales person to actually set up the buyer in a good area and/or market in which his or her chances of succeeding will be higher. Another aspect of business opportunities is that they are cheap. That's right, if you're spending over a grand you may actually be stepping onto legal territory that is different from a business opportunity. So the program for the strategy or marketing model and even the trademark is usually is bought along with the business opportunity. This is different from the franchise model, which allows the seller to retain rights to the name. Interestingly, the business opportunity sales person often has to actually guarantee the marketability of the product.
